Ohio State University Extension's Master Gardener Program is a volunteer education and service program. Through the Master Gardener class, volunteers participate in a research-based, practical course to learn effective gardening practices. In turn, the Master Gardener Volunteer will assume the role of “educator” and share this knowledge with the public through staffing of the Horticultural Hotline and various other community-based gardening activities and workshops. The Master Gardener Program in Summit County is an OSU Extension program, based on the collaborative efforts between the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the Summit County government, and The Ohio State University. Enrollment in the Master Gardener class is limited in order to ensure interaction between class members and instructors. Instructors include Extension Educators, Industry Professionals, OSU Specialists and other experts. Our next class, beginning in January, 2009, is full. We are accepting applications for a future class, to be held in the spring of 2010. A $210 fee is charged to cover class materials and texts. Scholarship assistance is available on a limited basis. Click here for a Master Gardener Application, and return the completed application to: OSU Extension, 2525 State Rd., Suite 250, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223.
