What is the Expanded Food & Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP)?
EFNEP is a free community program for limited income families who want to learn how to improve their family's nutrition and eating habits. The cost of feeding a family well is high and balancing meals can be tiring. The EFNEP program will give you new ideas for healthy, economical cooking and eating.
What Type of Programs Do You Offer?
EFNEP offers over 200 programs that include but are not limited to:
| Stretching Your Food Dollars: Creative cooking ideas to keep you going for a month, creative and easy recipe ideas, basic cooking, food preparation techniques and food safety | Picky, Picky Eaters...Help!: Lots of solutions for the picky eating child |
| Variety Counts: Basic food groups, number of servings and serving sizes | Breakfast Bonanza: Quick and easy ways to start your day with nutritious blender drinks, muffins, etc. |
| Soup's On: An easy way to get your family to eat a variety of foods and incorporate leftovers | Creative Casseroles: Make use of foods on hand and learn to make your own mixes and helpers |
| Eating Right for 2-My Baby and Me: | Some Strange and Unusual Vegetables I have Met and Learned to Love: New ones or old ones in a new exciting way |
| Food Choices Not Changes: Less fat and sugar, more fiber and nutrient-dense foods | 50 Ways to Leave Your Blubber |
How Can I Participate in the EFNEP Program?
Programs can be conducted in small home-based groups, an agency, community center or at a church group. You learn by participating in at least 6 hands-on food demonstartions/activity lessons with over 200 topics to choose from.
