Last modified 2007-10-29 11:16
  • 4-H Programs in Summit Co. are open to all Summit County residents aged 5-19!
  • Project work -  Over 200 project books guide 4-H'ers in their learning experiences.   Most of this curriculum is designed for individual use.  The subject matter is extensive and broad.  Traditional 4-H animal projects are available in small animal, livestock, and equine.  But you do not need a tractor or an animal to be in 4-H!   Curriculum desinged by 4-H Youth Development professionals and Ohio State University faculty members reflects the mission and extent of expertise in Ohio's land grant college.  Food and nutrition, clothing, welding, electricity, rockets, theatre arts, writing, photography, leadership development,
  • Demonstrations - Who would not benefit from developing the ability to speak in front of a group oft people. This unique 4-H project is both a wonderful learning experience and and competitive, state qualifying  event!  4-H'ers choose a topic of interest and prepare a 10 minute oral presentation, complete with visuals and offer it first to their club and then in competition - usually held in July before the County Fair.
  • 4-H at the Summit County Fair - The culmination of the 4-H project year is celebrated at the Summit Co. Fair held the last week in July.  Prior to the fair,  non-animal projects are judged, state fair qualifiers are selected, and club booths (often including projects) are set up for public display.  Animal projects are on display at the fair for judging and public interest.
  • 4-H at the  Ohio State Fair - The State Fair is a great event!  Ohioans from across the state come to celebrate Ohio and the acomplishments of its people!  4-H state qualifiers compete against their peers from 88 counties.  It is a coveted honor and a learning expereince without match.
  • Cloverbuds  - Cloverbuds are our youngest 4-H participants.  Cloverbuds are aged 5-8 and enrolled in Kindergarten, 1st or second grade.  Cloverbuds participate in non-competitive, educational, fun activities.  Curriculum is developed at OSU Extension.
  • Citizenship Washington Focus - You've never experienced D.C. like this!  Older 4-H'ers experience this unique leadership development program for a one week period in the summer. Each day our 4-H'ers join with 4-H'ers from across the country in learning leadership lessons, touring D.C. and making connections.
  • International 4-H - Possibilities are not bound by our county, state or national borders!  4-H families interested in an international experience may host a youth from another county. 4-H youth also have the opportunity to travel abroad and imerse themselves in a different culture.
